I thought the workout was very informative and enlightening and allowed a great deal of reflection. Beginning with the famine memorial and then the Jeanie Johnston, they gave a great insight and direct understanding of certain themes we covered in this module.

I had already read Eveline in school, but I really enjoyed going through it again and standing where she was standing in Joyce's story.

The tour of the port was very enlightening as I knew almost nothing about that area.

Finally, I enjoyed the creative writing exercise at the end, but I would have liked more time to explore that further, and maybe in a more ideal place.

Emigrant advice on the 
Jeanie Johnston

I really enjoyed the walkshop as it was a different mode of learning than what im used to in college. We started out at the famine memorial on Custom House Quay, which was interesting for me as ive never seen it before. We then carried on to the Jeanie Johnston famine ship muesuem and we were lucky enough  to get a tour of this ship due to one of our classmates, which was very imformative and fun! We then carried on down the quays and read Eveline from the Dubliners by James Joyce, an afterwards we took part in a creative writing excericse on what home meant to us. This excercise was enjoyable and really tied into the theme of emigration that we learned about throughout the module. We then went to Dublin port which was very interesting as i knew nothing about Dublin port prior to this walkshop. We then took part in an active listening exercise where we noted on sounds we heard from the port, which really made you think about your surroundings and whats happening around the port. In conculsion, i thoroughly enjoyed the walkshop and the module, as its different to what im used to seeing in college and it really broadened my knowledge on important topics.
